Veteran music producer Zapp Mallet is not against the ongoing ‘producer wars’.
He is just not happy that he was mixed with ‘latter-day’ producers.
He told GhanaWeekend TV in an exclusive interview that he would not have been bothered if some of his contemporaries were on the list.
According to him, if he was paired with music producers like Sami Helwani, Jon Kay and the like he would not have described the lists are disrespectful.
“Oh yea…yea…yea..yea. That [pairing me with Sami Helwani or Jon Kay] would have been more appreciated,” he said.
Yesterday after observing the #BehindTheHitz trend and the lists bandying around, Zapp Mallet took to twitter to express his displeasure.
“There is something called respect which is lacking in Ghana today. For instance, you don’t compare somebody who was churning out hits before you made Kindergarten with your mate who just started a couple of years back. Show some respect. You will also get there.”
Since then, there have been discussions on the need to celebrate music producers who have contributed to the growth of the music industry.
Zapp Mallet has produced hit songs for musicians across genres.
He has produced songs for Francis Agyei, Tagoe Sisters, Akyeame, Kofi B, Blakk Rasta, among a blizzard of other top-notch musicians.
