Ghanaian actor, Prince David Osei says he is certain the president lifted the partial lockdown placed on some part of the country because he was thinking of the poor and vulnerable.
The president, Addo Dunkwa Akufo-Addo placed Accra, Kasoa, and Kumasi under a lockdown of two weeks initially and extended it by a week as a measure to curb the spread of the coronavirus.
In his latest address to the nation which was the seventh since the outbreak of the disease, he lifted the lockdown to allow citizens to resume work.
Although the lockdown has been lifted, social gatherings remain banned, borders are still closed and people are advised to stay at home and only go out when necessary.
People are advised to also use face masks, avoid unnecessary body contacts and wash hands under running water and soap.
Lifting the lockdown after announcing confirmed recorded cases have shot to 1042, has got the public talking and questioning if this decision was taken in the interest of Ghanaians.
Taking to twitter, Prince David Osei noted that the government could not continue feeding the poor should the lockdown be extended.
He added that the nation cannot function under a lockdown hence the decision to lift it.
“How long can they keep feeding the poor? The Nation can’t function on lockdown, the economy needs to run Other restrictions are still in place. no social gathering restrictions still in place..I am very sure He took this decision thinking of the poor and vulnerable in society,” he tweeted.
