Rapper Sarkodie has pleaded with the President to open Ghana’s borders for at least a day or two to allow citizens who have been stuck outside the country due to the coronavirus pandemic, return to the country.
As one of the measures to curb the spread of the disease and also prevent the importation of more cases, Ghana’s borders were closed on March 22, 2020.
Citizens numbering 1030 who came in around that time were put under a 14-day quarantine and tested.
People who could not return before the close of the borders were forced to remain outside the country.
After the president, yesterday lifted the lockdown of Accra, Kasoa, and Kumasi but extended the closure of the borders by two more weeks to be able to deal with the pandemic properly.
Reacting to this, Sarkodie took to Twitter to praise the president’s efforts towards the fight against the pandemic and put his request forward.
“Mr president @NAkufoAddo you’ve done so well with how you handling this pandemic, we appreciate your effort But please can we open the borders for at least a day or two in-between times for citizens stuck outside to get back pls,” he tweeted.

This comes after another Ghanaian musician, Pappy Kojo, currently in Italy, also called on the President to grant him this same wish by facilitating his evacuation to Ghana.
