Ghanaian based Liberian singer, Irene Logan has explained the reason for her hiatus.
Irene was known for her singing prowess especially after emerging winner of the maiden edition of Stars of The Future Show in 2006.
She competed as a group which was called Irene and Jane, made up of herself and Efya. She went solo in 2009, was on the music scene for a while and took a break.
Speaking to Stacy Amoateng on the Restoration Show, she stated while in the limelight, she always “had a battle” because she “grew up in a very Christian home all my life, the singing I was doing, I was singing for God.”
After she won Stars Of The Future, “I had a serious battle, mind battle, mental, spiritual, emotional. Should I sing what I do, what I’m used to? Gospel or secular? It was so difficult for me to make that decision that I had sleepless nights. So I decided, I’m gonna sing what I wanna sing. I’m not gonna do gospel but my spirit was never rested with that decision”, she said.
“I used to have sleepless nights, what they call torment… I went through that for about six months, whiles I was performing, so many nights, I didn’t sleep and those were my battles but also, I did not want to be doing something that my heart wasn’t in so, after ‘Run Away’, I always say my entire journey was part of a Divine plan to bring me right back to where I am right now,” she further disclosed.
According to her, there were times she drove to empty space and shouted, telling God to let her be and that she wants to do what pleased her.
“So the break was because I wasn’t settled in my spirit. I knew I wasn’t walking in my purpose…”
The ‘Run Away’ singer noted that she was on the run from God for 12 years before finally surrendering to Him.
