Rapper Eno Barony has complained about the ratio of males against females while billing artistes for shows.
According to her she knows the industry is male-dominated but nominating just two females out of the lot for awards and shows is not helping the industry.
She said the women are doing good but support from the industry is not encouraging making her wonder “they don’t recognize the efforts of these women doing this music thing or what?”
Speaking in an interview on Hitz FM she recounted how the ministry of communication put together the virtual concert to launch COVID-19 tracker and billed lots of male artistes but only one female and also referred to other shows held to celebrate music.
“The industry has to support women. Girls are actually doing well. The few women we have in the industry are actually doing well but then you’ll see shows and then it’s like 15 men, 2 girls. Sometimes no girl at all on the headline and it’s not like the girls cannot perform or rock the shows or anything.”
“If our efforts are not recognized this much how do you expect female musicians to thrive?” she quizzed.
