Highlife singer, Akwaboah Jnr has stated that he is the electricity in the music industry.
According to him, although he is not usually seen, he is felt.
Last year, his album, ‘Matters of the Heart’ was nominated in the Album of the Year category of the Vodafone Ghana Music Awards but KuamiEugene won the category with his ‘Rockstar’ album.
In an interview on Zylofon TV, Friday Akwaboah was asked how he felt losing to Kuami Eugene.
“I felt very disappointed. Till date, I still feel disappointed. I think it was given to Eugene. He’s my son.”
He then advised that young musicians should take their time and that titles are conferred on artistes even if one is not up to the task.
“They should take their time, you know Ghana, they can give you a legendary position and the work that has to be done doesn’t even match the name they’ve given to someone. Oh for this one, legendary. Give him the beat and let him work and let’s see how he became the legend.
“The thing is, for me, I feel like I’m the electricity in the industry. You don’t see me but I affect you somehow. So, you don’t see me but you still feel me,” he said.
The ‘Gangsta Love’ singer also threw a challenge to whoever doubts his capabilities to take it up and face him.
“And if you want to take me by my word, fine go ahead, take me by my word and bring your artiste and let’s do music,” he stated.
