Highly Spiritual signee, Mr Drew has apologised to Stonebwoy for getting him involved in his copyright issues.
Over the weekend, Mr Drew’s song, ‘Eat’ which features Stonebwoy was deleted on YouTube because he sampled Rotimi’s song without appropriate permission.
A video which surfaced on the internet showed the song was reported to Rotimi to “take action before it’s too late”.
In an interview on Hitz FM Monday, June 1, Mr Drew noted that he did not call Stonebwoy for the feature but he rather reached out to him on Instagram that he wanted to be on the song.
During the interview, Stonebwoy was called to clear his name on the show.
According to Stonebwoy, he did not know the song was not originally Mr Drew’s and that after he finished recording his verse that his brother told him.
He added that Mr Drew told him later that it was a cover and knowing Kaywa’s brand, he assumed he took the necessary precautions.
After explaining, Mr Drew said, “Sorry for any dent that has been attached to your name.”
“But I feel like being misinterpreted here..” he was still talking when Stonebwoy interjected that, that would be sorted later and that he only wanted to confirm if his side of the story is true or not.
Mr Drew confirmed that Stonebwoy was right.
