Ghanaian rapper based in the US, Asem, has explained the genesis of his back and forth with Sarkodie.
He said Sarkodie threw the challenge on Twitter and he replied not because he has anything against him.
According to him , he was only standing up for hip hop culture.
He also said it was Sarkodie who first took a jab at him in an Appietus Cypher.
I’m a series of videos shared to his Twitter, he noted that after he replied, Sarkodie run to the studio to record his “yawa song” ‘Sub Zero’ instead of facing him on Twitter where he started the whole thing.
“I was doing this Freestyle Friday thing, I was rapping on my platform, my Twitter, doing my promotion for my album which is about to drop. That rapper, he poked me first. He dropped the first freestyle. Go and check . And it’s all fun and games . I’m hip hop. Hip hop is like boxing; if you were the champion you get challenged so when you go on Twitter and you throw a challenge, rappers are going to come at you. It’s hip hop.,” he said.
“I don’t have anything against him. I don’t even know him,” he added.
