Nigerian artiste, Burna Boy has said the flagging of ‘Own It Remix’ has nothing to do with him or the fact that he has been nominated alongside the ‘John Cena’ hitmaker in the upcoming BET.
His reaction comes on the back of Sho Madjozi’s accusation that he was the reason the song was removed from the internet.
The South African singer in a series of tweets claimed Burna Boy contacted Stormzy’s team to get the remix of the song on which she featured to be pulled down.
She noted that he took this decision because she was nominated in the same Best International Act category of the BET and he saw her as a threat.
But Burna Boy replied saying: “Own It is NOT my song. If my voice is on it however it should have been properly cleared. If the remix wasn’t cleared with the label(Atlantic US)it automatically gets flagged. Nothing to do with me personally or any award. Always best to reach out professionally. Congrats on BET’s!”

However, Sho Madjozi does not agree with his reply.
I could be wrong. Maybe he has other reasons. But BET announcement was on June 15th and by June 17th I was getting complaints from fans saying they can’t find it.
Either way, spirits up ✨ pic.twitter.com/QU66iICG1D

Burna Boy and Ed Sheeran were featured on the original version British rapper Stormzy’ ‘Own It’.
The remix which featured Sho Madjozi was released just last month but now taken down.
Last year, Burna Boy won the Best International Act while Sho Madjozi won the Best New International Act and this year, both are in the same category making Madjozi the only female in the category.
