The Dubai Police has arrested Nigerian popular Instagram star, Hushpuppi and 12 other friends for scamming almost 2 million victims.
The operation dubbed ‘Fox Hunt 2’ which lasted for four months finally came to an end with the arrest of the gang and confiscation of some gadgets and a huge amount of money including 21 computers, 47 smartphones, 15 storage devices, 5 harddisks containing data.
The arrest was announced days ago but Dubai police today released the video of the arrest telling how long it lasted and the investigation process.
According to the video, “six raids were carried out simultaneously while the suspects were sleeping in their Dubai residencies.”
“After months of investigating and hours of monitoring the gang’s social media accounts, a team of highly trained Dubai Police Officers were able to confirm the gang’s whereabouts and fraudulent activities,” the voice narrated.
Hushpuppi is known for flaunting his luxurious lifestyle on Instagram always claiming he was a businessman and a real estate developer.
Prior to his arrest, “Dubai e-police teams were tracking his every move and taking note of all his social media activities.”
The narrator further noted that the police saw evidence of the gang hacking people’s accounts and redirecting their monies into their own accounts.
The police say the gang was connected to several cybercrimes and has scammed 1,9926,400 people to the tune of one Billion 600 Million Dirhams.
