Ghanian artiste Strongman has stated emphatically that there is no way he would permit his child or relative to get signed to any label in the future.
He spent two years under the Sarkcess label and bowed out after talking things through with Sarkodie. According to Strongman, being signed to a label comes with “trauma”.
Speaking to NYDJ on YFM, he noted that he went through so much while under the label but he would rather not talk about it adding that people desist from using the word ungrateful to describe artistes who part ways with their managers.
He clarified that his child is free to live her life “but for me, until I’m dead, I’m never going to let my child or a family member very close to me to get signed. No for me, you wouldn’t get signed. Then you’ll stop doing music and look for another job, honestly.
“Being signed; the trauma that you’ll go through, sometimes it’s not easy but people don’t really know happened so they sit at home and be insulting you while you’ve not done anything,” he said.
He, however, said the only advice he would give people is that they sign to record labels that are managed by ordinary people or artistes who don’t do active music.
“My only advice I’ll give to people, honestly I wouldn’t advise someone to get signed unless the person you’re signing for is not an artist or the person has stopped being an artiste like what Bullet is doing, what Richie is doing, you can get signed but for you to sign for like right now if I see someone signing for let’s say Shatta Wale, Stonebwoy, no.
They are active. Right now they have a strong fanbase and you cannot stand them so the little thing you do, a whole lot of people will come at you- You’ll be seen as ungrateful, You’ll be seen as a bad person, you don’t respect, whatever. It’ll keep coming so the best thing is you don’t need to sign for any active musician,” he noted.
