Musician Stonebwoy has disclosed that the reason he kept long in fixing his leg is that his mother was against it.
He explained he was able to do the surgery after she passed away because the family was scared of a bad outcome.
Some years back, the artistes used to limp due to a vehicular accident he was involved in at the age of fourteen.
In an interview on UTV, he narrated the story of how he could not write his final exams in Junior Secondary School at the time because he had to stay in Korle Bu Hospital for six months.
According to him, he was in the company of his father and elder sister on January 19, 2003, on their way back to Ashaiman when the unfortunate happened.
The family came to Accra to process a visa lottery Stonebwoy had won that meant he would have travelled two months after that day but the dream was cut short on the Tema Motorway.
He noted that the car that skidded off his lane and ran into them was a police car; he was on duty by then.
Although no one died, Stonebwoy’s leg got affected, his elder sister got badly injured and has been left with a “chronic” situation while his father got his ribs broken.
He started limping and was given names when he came into the limelight as an artiste but he said he was never pained by the awful comments people made about his leg adding that “all these made me who I am today. My stronghold and my strength is my life.”
He stated that he is walking fine now after taking out the bone and replacing it with metal.
“My mom always told me: You were not born like this so she stopped me from doing the operation for my leg. I did it after she passed,” he narrated on the show.
