Ghanaian singer Mzbel who publicly declared her political stand and has been campaigning for the National Democratic Congress (NDC) since the previous election year, says her father agreed to be blocked on WhatsApp just so she stops sending him party messages.
According to her, she did not know her dad supported the New Patriotic Party (NPP) until recently when he chose to be blocked instead of being sent broadcast messages.
She said she grew up with her mother and all she knows is NDC and had no idea her dad belonged to the NPP.
During an interview on Citi TV’s Upside Down with Frema Adunyame and Ato Kwamina, Mzbel noted that her dad does not give her the room to open up to him as she does with the flagbearer of the NDC, John Dramani Mahama.
“The way I can talk to the former president, I can’t talk to my dad like that because he doesn’t give me that room to talk to him like that,” she said.
“I didn’t know my dad was NPP until recently. I was sending broadcast about JM and his achievements and what NPP is not doing. One day my dad told me don’t send me those foolish things anymore and I’m like what foolish things? Because I never sent him anything like porn or comedy.
“So, I said daddy what? and he said don’t send me anything NDC,” she narrated.
“I thought he didn’t know WhatsApp, I told him that then if I can’t send you stuff like that then I have to block you and he said okay then block me. And I blocked him. I was so upset”.
