Actress Akwapem Poloo has been a topic for discussion for days after she posted a nude picture of herself and her son.
Her son turned seven and to mark the celebration, the actress thought to post an “artistic” picture to “send message to kids” not to leave their parents in terrible situations in the future.
But her message and the artistic photo were not taken kindly. Social media reacted against her while the Ministry of Gender, Children and Social Protection in a statement warned people against sharing the picture, adding that the ministry was “liaising with the appropriate agencies to deal with the issue.”
Even after Akwapem Poloo apologized twice, the issue keeps coming up.
The latest to add her voice to the issue is musician Mzbel. She feels if the whole thing was planned well, it would not attract the kind of comments it did.
Speaking on Citi TV’s Upside Down show, she said when she first saw the picture, she was not sure what to make of it because she had two opposing views.
“When I first saw I was like what the…How could you? There are so many ways you can take a nude photo with your child that will look okay. That didn’t look okay but a caption could have made it okay,” she said.
“If it was me and I was posing with my son, Adepa like that, I would have put the caption that: This is who I am before I gave birth to you and this is who I am going to be for the rest of your life so please when you grow up and you see stuff like this about me on social media, don’t abandon me. I would have said that and it would’ve made perfect sense…She didn’t have anybody to help her plan it but they should just leave her alone,” she stated.
