Fashionista Richard Brown, also known as Osibo has disclosed that he had to drop out of school at the level of form four to push truck and to get money for the home.
According to him, his father was the police and the money he made was not enough to cater for six children which is why he decided to push truck and help out.
He made an appearance on Citi TV’s Upside Down on July 5, 2020.
He noted that his principles led him to an old man who played a huge role in his travel to Italy.
“I pushed truck in Suhum to help my parents pay my siblings’ fees since I was the firstborn. Through my truck pushing, I met an oldman…anytime I work for him, he wouldn’t pay for my services but I never insulted him. One day, he handed me CFA to go and change for him. When I returned, he was gone. I sent the money home, told my father who took the money and hid it. The next market day which was Thursday, the old man came to ask of his money. After giving him the money, he made me push 4 bags of cement and still didn’t pay me.
“Instead of paying me, he gave me an address to pay him a visit to his village. I decided to visit him on a Sunday and when I got to his junction, I met a school mate who brought me coconut in school on Wednesdays. On getting to the old man, he asked his son (the schoolmate was the old man’s son) if he knew me and he replied this is the boy I usually send coconut to in school,” he narrated.
He added that after formalities, he entered his room and came back with his eldest son’s Togolese passport saying it could travel to Italy and Germany.
The old man handed it to him to use to start life if he wanted and that is how come he travelled to Italy for four years. He said his mother had to sell twelve pieces of clothes and he also added money from his own savings to facilitate the trip. In a year’s time, he came and took his sibling to Germany.
