The Ministry of Gender, Children and Social Protection, has condemned the statement made by Counsellor George Lutterodt on Adom TV that “every rape victim enjoys the act.”
This comes a few days after actress Ama K Abebrese had riled the statement by the self-acclaimed counselor and asked that he be banned from making radio and television appearances.
Since then a lot of people have added their voice to the call.
In a statement the Gender Minister called on all not to entertain such comments. It says there is no justification for what he said.

The controversial counsellor made the statement Thursday, July 9, 2020 on Adom TV.
According to him, “every rape victim enjoys the act” regardless of their unwillingness in beginning of an act of rape.
But people like Ama K Abebrese believes that this is something that any real professional counsellor and expert will discredit.
“This is highly irresponsible and a very dangerous rhetoric that fuels sexual violence and rape culture. He claims he has spoken to ‘many rape victims’ and his assertions are based on that. Despicable,” she had tweeted earlier.
“This man Lutterot is a rape apologist simple. One of the worse I have seen because he masquerades with the title of ‘counsellor’ to essentially justify and normalise rape culture with a reprehensible statement that ‘all victims of rape enjoy the act’,” she added.
The work of Counsellor Lutterodt has been under scrutiny due to his approach and style and has been asked to be banned from such radio and television appearances.
In 2019, the Ghana Psychology Council actually banned him from holding himself out as a counsellor.
According to the Council, it is against the law for an individual without the proper qualifications to hold him/herself out as a counsellor.
