While most celebrities will take any kind of contract including endorsing products, Ghanaian comedian Funny Face thinks differently about betting.
He noted that despite the fact that he needs money, using his brand to endorse betting companies in Ghana is something he will not consider.
Funny Face has been known to show so much love for kids and vice versa. Stating his reason for the decision not to be associated with betting companies, ‘Children’s president’ as he likes to be called, said it is because of these children who look up to him.
He made this comment in an interview with Nana Romeo on Accra100.5FM’s Ayeeko Ayeeko show on Wednesday, 5 August 2020.
“I haven’t [endorsed any betting company]. Someone called me to endorse one but I didn’t do it.”
To further prove his decision is purely for being an icon for children who look up to him, he added that “For betting, I have a following from children. I can’t bet. Betting companies in Ghana, if I get your money, I like, but I can’t endorse you.
Alcohol, condom, I can’t do it, betting I can’t do it but I need your money. My brand will not endorse any of those products. Condom, alcohol, betting, I can’t do it but I need your money”.
Even though he would not want his brand to be associated with betting companies, he stated that he will not reject their money if they donate to support his projects.
“If they bring money that I should advertise betting, I won’t do it but if they bring money that Yaw Boateng, we‘re assisting you to construct a children’s park, Funny World, to help Ghanaian children, I’ll take it.”
