Musician Mzbel has expressed her disappointment at people tagging her to be a lesbian who is Iona’s partner.
Mzbel has been seen in videos lately dancing with Iona in her house. The two have been seen hanging together more often lately.
Iona is an uprising musician who also doubles as a midwife.
Addressing the issue in a live video on Facebook this morning, Mzbel noted that she has friends who are into girls and when they got close, they mistook her for a lesbian and wanted to have sexual relations with her until they found out she was not into that.
According to her, she has never been a lesbian and would not be one although she has nothing against same-sex relationships.
“I am a little disappointed in some people. We usually say celebrities do not support themselves but the sad part is when we try to support, the comments that generate…If two women hangout, we call them lesbians. If they are not close to each other, you say we don’t like each other. So, seriously what are we supposed to do? I am very disappointed. The reason I am disappointed is that now people are tagging Iona and me as lesbians,” she noted.
“I am not a lesbian. I have never been and Iona and I are not partners. I don’t have anything against lesbianism,” she said in a Facebook live video.
Touching on how they met, she explained that she was introduced to her by a close friend. She later found out they are somehow related.
“…so she’s actually my daughter. She is family. She is my late sister’s goddaughter,” she stated.
