The office of Shatta Movement (SM) has cautioned political parties against using the image and brand Shatta Wale for any campaign.
A statement posted on Shatta Wale’s wall on Facebook noted that he will throw his support behind the governing party of the day but would not want to be used to solicit votes.
Read the full statement below:
“Moving forward, No one should use my picture or my brand on any political campaign or platforms.
Myself and my loyal fans will support and cooperate with any person who Ghanaians elect as their president..
Anyone who wishes to seek any further clarifications/explanations should contact my office (The secretariat) on 054 466 2230”.
In the past, Shatta Wale has been billed for a couple of campaigns while his songs were also used during elections.
One of his songs, ‘Mahama Paper’ can be said to be one of the songs that were abused during the elections. There was no campaign program that did not have that song on rotation.
Although the song was not purposely done for the campaign, it became relevant in the season.
