Artiste Yaw Berk has said the reason he did the remix of his hit song, ‘Independent Lady’ is so that it does not fade.

He released the original version was his first official song to be released in 2018 when he got signed to the Highly Spiritual label.

He released other songs and an EP (Iamyawberk) last year but ‘Independent Lady’ remains people’s favourite for reasons best known to them.

Speaking on what inspired the song, he said it was meant to celebrate his mother and all women.

“My first debut single released on the Highly Spiritual music label, Independent Lady was inspired by my mom because I mean growing up trying to do music, my mom wasn’t into that. she wasn’t with me but then I always told her to calm down because I know what I’m doing and I know where I can go with this thing,” he said in an interview on Muse Africa.

Touching on why he decided to do a remix two years later, he told Ghanaweekend.com that he had to keep the taste in people’s mouth for a little longer.

“People actually loved the song (the previous one) and that gave me the mileage or the authority to give them more of the song. People didn’t really get to hear the song. I had people saying ‘we heard your song just this month in Germany’… I felt like it should have been there like big time. So, since people loved the first one I made my mind to get a remix of the song put some of the favourite artistes on for people to enjoy,” he noted.

He clarified that there was the need to give fans something to be nibbling on until his new projects are ready for the market.

He also said he chose Kelvyn Boy and Mzvee to add versatility and flavour to the already loved song.

“This is not even part of the projects we’re about to unleash but we made our mind to give you this due to the fact that people already love the song and they always want to hear the song. We didn’t want the song to fade out so easily because it’s a big record. So, that’s why we put some of the superstars on it so it’ll get a new flavour.

“I didn’t even do much. I left the song for my sister Mzvee and Kelvyn Boy to kill it for people to enjoy and see the whole versatility in the remix,” he stated.
