Ghanaian rapper, Desmond Blackmore, aka D-Black has revealed that when he was doing serious rap and got nominated for the Black Entertainment Television Awards (BET), he did not have great fortunes.
According to him some hardcore type of rap did not earn him a lot of money, admitting why people say he’s a lazy rapper.
He told Abeiku Santana on Atuu programme on United Television (UTV) that Ghanaians don’t appreciate music with deep lyrics and that is why he switched.
“When I was rapping, I was broke. When I was doing my rap stuff I was getting the accolades, BET but I didn’t get money,” he said.
“I went to the BET with $800 and when I came back I was broke for a very long time. But when I wrote “Vera” and recorded “Vera” everything changed”, D-Black further stated.
