Nigerian artist Naira Marley says that his mum stopped him from joining the EndSARS protests in Nigeria.
The ‘Soapy’ hitmaker took to Instagram live to make the disclosure, saying his mother told him that there was nothing wrong in protesting but things could go wrong with the protest.
Protests have taken place across Nigeria, including Lagos. Star Wars actor John Boyega is among the celebrities supporting the protesters.
The movement initially targeted the highly-criticised Federal Special Anti-Robbery Squad (Sars), widely accused of unlawful arrests, torture and murder.

The hashtag #EndSARS was trending worldwide on Twitter on Friday with celebrities including the Nigerian superstars Wizkid and Davido tweeting their support for protesters.
More and more Nigerians started using the hashtag last Saturday following the alleged killing of a young man by officers from the Sars unit.
On Sunday, October 11, the Nigeria Police Force dissolved the anti-robbery unit, SARS, following protests against alleged human-rights abuses by some of its officers.
“All officers and men serving in the unit will be redeployed to other police commands, formations and units,” a Police Force spokesman, Frank Mba, said in a statement on Twitter.
