Ghanaian actor John Dumelo has outlined activities he will be engaged in after losing out to Lydia Alhassan as Member of Parliament at the Ayawaso West Wuogon Constituency in the December 7 elections.
In a social media post, John who contested on the ticket of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) stated that he would be more dedicated to touching lives and continue with farming.
“I will continue farming, traveling around Ghana, engaging people, helping entrepreneurs, and touching the lives of as many Ghanaians as I can; “facta non verba”,” he wrote.
He recounted in his post, how in 2004, he stood for KNUST Queen’s hall Secretary but lost, how in 2005 he contested for KNUST Organizing Secretary, Civil Engineering Students Association and won; his win the NDC parliamentary primaries.
“Truth is, every time I lose, I come back stronger because I don’t see it as a loss, I see it as a journey to perfection. It is only when you are down that you appreciate what it takes to get back up. So I want to thank the over 37,000 people who voted for me in Ayawaso West Wuogon,” he noted.
Dumelo also said he was ready to lend support to his constituents irrespective of his loss in the elections.
“So I’m ready to help to make this constituency the greatest. (I have new wellington boots for you too) Mega tsi dzi o. To my colleague actors and those in the creative arts industry who supported me, God bless each and everyone of you, many of you did without me having to ask and I appreciate the overwhelming show of support,” he said.
After losing the elections, John Dumelo wrote to the District Electoral Officer of Ayawaso West Wuogon demanding a recount of the ballots in the constituency.
He insisted that there were several irregularities recorded in the exercise.
Madam Alhassan who is the incumbent MP for Ayawaso West Wuogon won the poll with 39,851 votes while John Dumelo managed with 37,778 votes.
