In the wake of the Grammy conversations, music producer Hammer has asked Ghanaian musicians to work on their craft and music business than waste time fantasising over the awards.
“Why are people talking about the Grammys like it’s easy to get. There are thousands of songs and the whole continent is crumbling for just one category,” he said on Class FM.
“It’s not something they should look up to. I think they should make great music and when they are wired around the world and on a big label, they will find themselves at the Grammys,” he added.
He further stated that he aims to educate up-and-coming musicians on the business side of the trade.
“The structures are wrong and we are not going to wait for somebody to vote us into power before we educate people,” he said.
The discussion on the Grammys surfaced in the Ghanaian media space after Burna Boy and other Nigerian artistes won in this year’s awards.
Some Ghanaians have wondered why no Ghanaian has grabbed any award at the world’s most prestigious music awards.
