Ghanaian legendary musician, Agya Koo Nimo, has dedicated the Special Recognition Award he won at the maiden Entertainment Achievement Awards, to all Ghanaian musicians.

In his acceptance speech, Koo Nimo said the award was not only for his contribution to the music industry but for all other musicians in the country.

“It is not just a recognition of my contribution but also the contribution of all Ghanaian musicians, You should all share this great gift with me. While thanking you all I would quote the late Kofi Annan, one time United Nations Secretary:’To live is to choose but to choose well, you should know who you are what you stand for in life, where you want to go, and why you want to get there.’ And I will end by quoting the great Socrates: ‘The unexamined life is not worth living,” he said.

The eighty-seven-year-old musician was given the honour for his unbridled contribution to the Ghanaian music industry, spanning over five decades.

Some of his works include Ashanti Ballads (1968), Osabarima (1990, re-issued 2000), Tete Wobi Ka (2000), and Highlife Roots Revival (2012, Riverboat Records).

The EAA category definition of this award says it is “presented to [a] personality with long-standing service to the development of their respective fields or industry, over the past decades. This category spotlights all aspects of life e.g. Musicians, Sound engineers, Actors and Actresses, Writers, Politicians (Who have demonstrated significant impact on the development of their respective constituencies and ministries), Sportsmen and Women, NGOs, and more. During each review cycle of the EAA, the organizers and the EAA Academy shall agree upon one (1) special category that they wish to focus on. The category in question shall then be announced to the public.”

The Entertainment Achievement Awards celebrates entertainers and entertainment industry players who have distinguished themselves in the practice of their art during the 2020 eligibility year.

The scheme covers areas such as sports, music, film, fashion, photography, media, comedy, among others.

Aside from presenting awards to deserving winners on the night, there were performances from Okyeame Kwame, Tulenkey, Kweku Flick, Kofi Jamar, and Abiana.
