Ghanaian songstress, Abiana, spoken about the title of her new song, ‘Bo Nɔŋŋ Ni’.

While a lot of people have suggested that she may have copied Joe Mettle’s ‘Bonooni’, she told Emmanuel Sarpong on Citi TV’s ‘Citi Countdown’ that the spellings are different; and there is a reason for that.

“It is the same thing but the spellings are different. My label, they pay so much attention to detail. So they took the lyrics of my song to the Ghana Institute of Languages in Legon for them to be written out because they want to make a statement. They don’t want to bring anything anyhow so that it is criticised,” she said.

She added that her management even makes sure if her lyrics contain words and expressions that have been used by someone else before, they take them out.

Abiana is famed for her extraordinary singing prowess, displayed on songs like Okyeame Kwame’s ‘Bolgatanga Girl’ and her song ‘Adunlei’.

She has been nominated in the Vodafone Ghanaian Music Awards for Record of the Year and Female Vocal Performance of the Year.
