This is not the first time Kuami Eugene has been mauled for using a portion of someone’s song for his.
However, it appears the ‘Okumchola’ chorus he employed in his latest song titled ‘Dollar on You’ has irked a lot of people than his previous ‘borrowed’ pieces have done.
Dollar on You has catchy hooks and has the chorus of late Prophet Seth Frimpong’s popular ‘Okumchola’ song sampled for a hook.
He admitted on Hitz FM’s Daybreak Hitz that he lifted Seth Frimpong’s chorus but when asked if he sought clearance, he said: “that is backdoor conversation.”
On social media, people have not kept calm at all. They think Kuami may be losing substance if he continuously keeps ripping people off their intellectual property.
A bit of research, however’ proves that ‘Okumchola’ popularised by the late Seth Frimpong, is an Assemblies of God slogan which means ‘it’s a miracle’. It is a very popular term, especially among the youth in that church.
‘Dollar on You’ is a love song that has Kuami Eugene tell his lover how ready he is to spend money on her if she decides to give in her all in the relationship.
After taking a short break to do amazing features on other artistes’ songs, this is Kuami Eugene’s first single for 2021.
The song produced by DJ Vyrusky and Kuami Eugene is titled ‘Dollar on You’.
Directed by Xbills Ebenezer, the video features, Giovani Caleb, Lexis Bill, Dr. Pounds, Kwadwo Sheldon, Jackeline Mensah, among others.
