Ghanaian actor-turned-politician, John Dumelo does not understand why it is illegal to smoke marijuana in Ghana but cigarette smoking isn’t.

In Ghana, it is illegal for people to smoke marijuana or cannabis but its use for health and industrial purposes was decriminalised.
Parliament passed the Narcotics Control Commission Bill, 2019 on Friday in 2020. The law also makes the country’s Narcotics Control Board (NACOB) a Commission with enhanced powers to oversee the industrial use of some narcotic substances.
Meanwhile, some have argued that it is hypocritical for the government to legalise the smoking of cigarettes, which to them, is more harmful than marijuana.
