Kuami Eugene has been touted as one of the best rappers in Ghana, after displaying his rap prowess on a number of songs.
When asked if he expects to earn a nomination in the Best Rap Performance category of the Vodafone Ghana Music Awards, he said he is not a rapper and does not wish to be one.
According to him, he is a good singer – a highlife artiste at that and does not intend to put forth his brand as a rap artiste.
Kuami Eugene has done rap verses on songs like ‘Wish Me Well’, the remix of ‘Otan Huhunu’ by Dead Peepol, remix of ‘Sika Aba Fie’ by Kwaku Darlington, ‘Biibi Besi’ by Kwame Yogot, among others.
According to the category definition for Best Rap Performance of the VGMAs, “the Best Rap Performance is adjudged by Academy and Board as the rap artiste with the best word compositions, rhymes, and rap dexterity on a song released in the year under review.”
This means that Kuami Eugene could earn a nomination in the VGMA Best Rap Performance category with any rap verse he does either on his own songs on other people’s works.
