The death of highlife legend, Nana Kwame Ampadu, has put the spotlight back on the nation’s health system following revelations by close-confidant and mentee of the late singer, Akosua Agyapong.
According to Akosua Agyapong, the legendary singer’s demise was due to negligence on the part of staff of the Achimota Hospital where the musician’s case was first reported to.
Narrating the circumstances prior to his passing on, Akosua Agyapong said staff of the hospital informed her that the physician on duty at the time was fast asleep after a long delay by the ambulance service to respond to the emergency calls.
She said the legendary singer was then rushed to the University of Ghana Medical Centre (UGMC) where upon arrival, the story was different as workers at the facility tried their best to revive the singer but to no avail. The sad news was passed on to family members shortly after.
