Actor Abeiku Sagoe has said that getting a brand name for the film industry is just a step to shaping the industry.
Speaking on Citi TV’s ‘The Chat’ on Saturday Abeiku said the right structures must be put in place to help in the production of quality movies irrespective of the name that is given to it.
“If we want to come back, we need to make a deliberate effort. Not only the naming. Quality matters. What kind of film are we going to show. No matter the loftiness of the name we choose if we continue doing the things that we’ve done over the past, we can’t make progress,” he said.
Abeiku, a member of the Brand Name Committee of the National Film Authority said he is hopeful that the steps taken by the authority to help project the Ghanaian Film Industry would yield positive results.
He noted that one of those initiatives is the Presidential Film Pitch Series which is meant to provide funding, marketing, and distribution opportunities for Ghanaian Filmmakers.
He also stressed the need to have a brand name for the Ghanaian Film Industry, saying, that will give the industry identity and will set the tone for bigger things to come.
The National Film Authority is currently asking the general public to choose from a list of ten, the name that suits the film industry in Ghana.
