Ghana’s biggest night of music and fashion, Rhythms On The Runway (RODR), was Thursday night, launched at the African Regent Hotel in Accra.

This year’s event is slated for December 4, 2021, at the Grand Arena, under the theme: “The Masquerade”, to encourage everyone to keep wearing their face masks as the world gradually returns to normalcy from COVID-19.

The Masquerade edition is targeted at chronicling the times, showing humanity’s resilience once again by making fashion of the situation and potentially throwing way back to the times when a Masquerade ball was the thing.

From Ghana and the African diaspora will be top designers such as Senyo Foli, Katie O, Details by Neyomi, MUDI, Jesu Segun, Nadrey Laurent, Pernia Couture, Nineteen57, Gloria Sarfo and Attoh Andoh, who will showcase at the event.

There will also be anticipated great music performances from Efya, Afriyie, Sefa, Edem, Adina, Fameye, Miss Floewe from South Africa, Michael Stuckey from the USA and Shatta Wale.

Speaking at the launch, Yvonne Ocloo, Head of Events at Nineteen57 Events, indicated that one of the major highlights of the show will be honouring two showbiz personalities; Richard Eyimofe Evans Mofe-Damijo of Nollywood and Ghana’s music legend, Pat Thomas.

“RODR has over the years given the honour to whom honour is due. This year we will salute two icons of the creative arts.

“For decades of his contribution to the African creative arts industry and for his unwavering loyalty to African fashion, the amazing Richard Mofe Damijo (RMD) is an award recipient this year. Our second and by no means least honouree is a legend who has given in excess of five decades of his life to the music industry and has been a great supporter of the RODR dream right from its inception. The great Pat Thomas, the man who owns the Golden Voice in Africa, is our second honouree. This event is built on shoulders like these and as they both celebrate milestone anniversaries this year, we join in the very well-deserved applause and immortalize them for the work they have done,” she stated.

The 2021 Rhythms On The Runway is the 9th edition organized by KOD’s Nineteen57 Event.

MCs for the event will be Joselyn Dumas and Sika Osei, with a special presentation by Nathaniel Attoh.
