Dancehall artiste, Shatta Wale, has explained the circumstances that led to the brief disruption during IGP Dampare’s meeting with creative arts stakeholders at the Police Headquarters in Accra on November 10, 2021.
The singer, in an interview with Accra-based Adom FM, said he had protested after a police officer attempted to stop him from using his phone’s camera to take footage during the meeting.
According to the musician, he felt the action by the officer was unfair since other people in the meeting hall were filming the session with their smartphones.
He said he was particularly incensed when he was stopped from filming his childhood idol, actor Fred Amugi.
“I saw people taking out their phones, and nobody was talking to them, so I felt ‘let me just take my phone because Fred Amugi (actor) has been one of my greatest actors that I really want to do a film with. So when he was talking, I felt what he was saying was so important to me that I had to keep it for myself.”
“I took a video, and one of the police officers came and was like ‘phones are not allowed, but you know people were taking pictures before I came, so I felt like it was a bit rude,” he added
