After receiving over 200 million Naira from what he started as a joke on Twitter, Davido has finally decided to donate the funds to charity.
A press statement tweeted by the artiste on the November 19, barely two days after the singer shared his account number on social media, indicates that the amount will be donated to orphanages across Nigeria.
The document adds that Davido will also top it up with 50 million dollars from his own coffers.
On social media, the singer continues to express gratitude for the overwhelming support received from friends and well-wishers.
On November 17, 2021, Davido shared his account number to his followers on Twitter handle and Instagram, accompanied by the caption,“If you know I’ve given you a hit song, send me money, Una know yourselves oh.
“I wan clear my Rolls Royce from port abeg.”
With an initial target of 100 million Naira, Davido started receiving deposits a few minutes after the announcement and got over 25 million Naira.
In all, he was able to raise half approximately half a million dollars in 3 days.
