The annual MTN Music Festival took place on Friday, December 3, 2021, at the Grand Arena of the Accra International Conference Centre.
The programme featured exhilarating performances from musicians such as Kwabena Kwabena, KiDi, Kofi Kinaata and Obaapa Christy.
The show started with a curtain-raiser performance by MTN Hitmaker alumnus Kofi Pages, ushering in ‘Adunle’ hitmaker Abiana.
Abiana handed the baton over to Lynx Entertainment artiste KiDi who dazzled in his usual element. He performed to the relish of the patrons, songs like ‘Spiritual’, ‘Say Cheese’, ‘One Man’, ‘Touch it’ and ‘Enjoyment’.
Obaapa Christy, dressed in a lovely white gown, started her ministration with ‘Hyebre Sesafuo’, and then switched it up with songs like ‘Wagye Me’, ‘Me Ye Onyame Ba’, and a medley of some of her old hits.
Doing a string of hit songs from his repertoire, Kwabena Kwabena did not disappoint in keeping the audience on their feet throughout his show-time on stage. The patrons’ response to songs like ‘Tuamudaa’ proves how much the highlife crooner is loved.
Another highlife artiste that made an appearance at the programme was Dada K Dei. In his velvety voice, composed demeanor on stage, he also dished out a spectacular performance. He left the stage for ‘24th’ hit maker, Kaakyire Kwame Appiah, who turned the show into a jamboree. The line-up of the old highlife artistes was sealed with an appearance by ‘Ashikele’ composer George Jahraa.
After warming up the revelers with the back-to-back play of hit songs by Andy Dosty of Hitz FM, Kofi Kinaata took the stage.
The performances on the night were supported by the Hy-Skul Band, with Doreen Avio and Merqury Quaye as MCs.
The MTN Music Festival 2021 is part of the activities lined up to celebrate 25 years of mobile telecommunication’s operation in Ghana.
