Former Ghana senior national football team captain, Asamoah Gyan, has shared a hilarious video of a traditional ceremony organized to welcome as a player for Dubai-based football club, Al Ain.
The striker played for the Gulf League club as a loan player from English Premier League side, Sunderland FC in 2011, going on to become the UAE football league’s top-goalscorer, with 24 goals in 27 matches.
The following season, Gyan permanently joined Al Ain and once again became the league’s top-goalscorer while he helped Al Ain retain the UAE Pro-League title, netting 28 times in 32 matches. In the 2013–14 season, Gyan scored on 44 occasions in 40 matches with Al Ain.
Asamoah Gyan began his professional football career at Accra-based Liberty professionals in 2003. He played for Udinese, Modena, Rennes, Sunderland and Al Ain before joining Chinese club, Shanghai SIPG, for an undisclosed fee, plus a weekly salary of £227,000 which made him one of the best paid football players in the world.
