A former Minister of Information, James Agyenim-Boateng has added his voice to the ongoing conversation about Ghanaians consuming to much foreign music.
On his Twitter page, he expressed shock at how a mall he visited played music for about 40 minutes without a single Ghanaian song.
He stated in the tweet that he got worried by the situation.
“On 24th Dec. 2021, I visited a very big malls in Accra. I was there for well over 40 minutes. All that while there was music blasting through the mall’s sound system. Not one Ghanaian musician’s song was played for the period that I was there. I felt genuinely worried about that,” he wrote.
This comes on the back of a recent call Shatta Wale made to Nigerians to return the love Ghanaians show them by also playing more Ghanaian music in their country and headlining Ghanaian acts for their shows.
This has stoked conversations on how selfish Nigerians have been about protecting their music space.
