Ghanaian palm wine highlife band, Kwan Pa, has spoken about satisfying a wide range of audiences with their style of music.
In an interview with Ghana Weekend TV, they said they have been able to devise a strategy to capture the attention of people who ordinarily would not want to listen to the kind of music they do.
“There is a perception that palm wine music is a preserve of the old people. So we decided to change the narrative. Let us pick the popular songs that young people jam to, and then let’s bring those songs to our palm wine rhythms and give back to them. If they develop the state for it, then we give them what we really want to give them,” they said.
The leader of the band, Andrew Asah said because of that they have won a lot of fans of their music.
“Now, we even have special palm wine jam sessions to our performances,” he said.
Since they formed the group about five years ago, they have been featured on a lot of programmes.
