Singer, Mzbel, says she will organize a big funeral for her late father, Albert Amoah, whose death was announced on Thursday, January 27th 2022 and laid to rest barely 24 hours afterwards.

According to Mzbel, even though his father was a Muslim and buried according to Islamic customs, she will proceed to honour him with a traditional ceremony in line with his ancestral heritage as an Akan.

Mzbel made the announcement via her Instagram handle, adding that she has the backing of her uncle, who lives in Manchester in the United Kingdom (UK).

She said her father’s brother has agreed to the observance of a one-week memorial service and subsequent funeral ceremonies in the UK and Ghana.

Read her message:

My Uncle has spoken! He is my daddy’s direct back born!

Maame Ekua Bentuma Amoah

You are a princess

Your Uncle is

Nana Asare Oky3hen Yeboah I

Apagyehene, Nana of Ekumfi Nanabin Twidan Royal Family.

Again the Chief of the Mfanteman Association of the Greater

Manchester UK.

We will have a huge funeral back home in Ghana and here in

Manchester! With my permission, you can go ahead with the one

week observation!

It was a moment of drama on Onua FM’s ‘Odo Nsor’ show, when host, Belinda Nana Ekua Amoah aka Mzbel ended the show abruptly after announcing the death of her father to listeners.

According to Mzbel, she had no choice but to stop the show and join her family to make funeral arrangements for her late father, Albert Amoah.

She explained that she had to make an urgent decision or risk missing her father’s burial if she delayed because her father was a Muslim and could be buried the next day in accordance with Islamic tradition.
