Ghanaian gospel musician of international repute, Celestine Donkor, has urged other gospel musicians in Ghana to utilise services rendered by the online music streaming service, Boomplay.
The singer has stated that benefits abound for musicians whose works are distributed on Boomplay platforms.
Being the first Ghanaian gospel musician to have an exclusive release partnership deal with the biggest streaming platform in Africa, Celestine through her management Dynamic Unlimited Incorporated, has explained why they chose Boomplay.
According to them, the decision stems from Boomplay’s reach to a large African audience and also the support they give to Ghanaian and African content.
Celestine Donkor also said in an interview that Boomplay invests so much in artistes by paying for their recordings, video shoots, sponsoring their concerts, among other things.
She, however, bemoaned the fact that Gospel musicians in Ghana are not part of all these benefits.
“Boomplay has been very hesitant in funding gospel here in Ghana. They have done so much with the secular guys like Mr. Drew, Wendy Shay among others. They declined to work with gospel acts for the reason that GH gospel do not command numbers. We in the gospel fraternity have to make a case that we have the numbers and capable of getting people to stream our music,” she said.
‘Testimony Therapy’, a seven-track EP by Celestine Donkor, was released on Boomplay streaming platforms on January 28, 2022 and has been featured on the banners of the Boomplay App since the EP was released.
With five featured gospel artistes selected from four African countries, ‘Testimony Therapy’ sums up the healing power of one being grateful to God for His loving kindness and mercies.
Boomplay (formally known as Boom Player) is a music and video streaming and download service developed and owned by Transsnet Music Limited.
The release of Celestine’s EP is a precursor to the 9th edition of her concert dubbed ‘Celestial Praiz’ which will be held on 6th March 2022.
