Standouts from Ghana’s arts and entertainment scene in the past year will be honoured at the second edition of the Entertainment Achievement Awards.

The date for the event is February 26, 2022, at the Accra Marriott Hotel at 7pm.

Fan attention is likely to be on the music categories, where Afrobeats star KiDi led the Entertainment Achievement Awards nominations with five nods, followed by songstress Amaarae, who had four nominations.

Following closely were rappers Black Sherif and Sarkodie, with three nominations each.

These nominations followed input from the public as well as the Entertainment Achievement Awards Academy, which is made up of professionals from various arts fields.

The award focuses on showcasing creatives in Music, Sports, Writing & Poetry, Fashion, Comedy, Online Media, Photography and Film.

Other award nominees from other fields included sprinter Benjamin Azamati, Actor Lydia Forson, Director Shirley Frimpong-Manso, Twitter influencer KalyJay, and comedian DKB.

The marquee award under the scheme, the Entertainment Personality of the Year, had Black Sherif, OB Amponsah, KiDi, Stonebwoy, Sarkodie, Amaarae and Giovanni Caleb as nominees.

The Entertainment Achievement Awards, organised by Citi TV, seeks to recognise, unearth, spotlight, encourage and celebrate entertainers and entertainment industry players, who have distinguished themselves in their chosen fields of endeavour.

Launched in 2020, the scheme was created to recognise and award the talents, which make the industry worth the investment, and talents that are often not acknowledged by mainstream media, and award platforms.

During the award’s nomination window, members of the public, both home and abroad, are allowed to nominate their favourites, in each of the EAA Categories.

The various categories include Best Female Artiste, Best Male Artiste, Song of the Year, Album of the Year, Cultural Troupe of the Year, Ghanaian Movie of the Year, Film Director of the Year, Event Host of the Year, Stand-Up Comedian, Comic Actor of the Year, Photographer of the Year and Entertainment Personality of the Year.
