Ghanaian actor, John Dumelo, was among the list of top celebrities who graced the official launch of the new African-owned dating app for ‘House 24’ which was launched in Lagos last weekend.
The online dating platform, according to the company’s director, Dayo Aderugbo, will focus primarily on providing dating services for African professionals.
Mr. Aderugbo said House 24 will fill a huge vacuum that exists as a result of a growing middle class in African countries and the fact that not many dating apps focus on professionals.
“This concept came up because we studied the market and realised that all apps have their advantages, so why not take the best of all the apps and put it into one. We have our own in-house algorithms that help to confirm user’s true identities.”
The event attracted a number of celebrities including Denrele Edun, Lucy Edet (BBNaija), Enyinna Nwigwe and Ifeanyi Kalu.

Actress, Uru Eke, who is an ambassador for the brand, called on Africans to patronise homegrown technological solutions instead of relying heavily on foreign tech firms.
