The former Deputy Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the Ghana Tourism Development Company (GTDC), Akua Djanie-Manfo aka Blakofe has called on Ghanaians to focus on addressing internal issues bedevilling the nation instead of worrying about international issues.
According to Blakofe, who is currently in Europe, most Ghanaians in the diaspora would like to return and live in Ghana, but are forced to remain in Europe because of bad leadership in their home country.
She said Ghanaian citizens must demand accountability from people in government instead of focusing on things happening in European countries.
“We would like to be at home, a lot of us would like to be home, but we don’t have a choice but to continue to be in Europe, so instead of crying for Ukraine or crying for the queen to get over her COVID, why don’t you use that effort to hold your leaders accountable?”
“She suggested that citizens can start by taking some leaders to court and prosecuting them, if that will make them work better to improve conditions in the country.”

After 16 months of working in the capacity of Deputy CEO, Blakofe, officially resigned from the GTDC in May 2018, citing reasons that her skills were not being utilized.
In a Facebook post on May 7, 2018, she explained the circumstances at the GTDC, stating that unlike others in the organisation, her goal was to work and not to travel and receive per-diem.
