Veteran music producer, Appiah Dankwah, aka Appietus, has described as untrue allegations by some musicians that ace highlife singer, Daddy Lumba, cheated them after collaborating with them.
According to Appiah, even though Daddy Lumba is innocent, he is generally misunderstood by many because he does not go public to respond to what people say about him, as he prefers to let posterity be the judge.
Appietus was responding to recent allegations by Daddy Lumba’s former collaborators, Great Ampong and Voltage, who alleged in separate interviews that Daddy Lumba refused to honour his financial obligations after they worked with him.
According to Ampong, Lumba refused to give him part of the revenue from their joint album dubbed, Hossana, after they had agreed to share the proceeds equally.
However, Appietus who has been a close friend of Daddy Lumba thinks ‘DL’ is not how people perceive him to be.
Speaking in an interview with TV XYZ, he mentioned that Daddy Lumba is one cool person and that unless you are closer to him, you wouldn’t know his real character.
He mentioned that Daddy Lumba is one cool person he has ever come across with who always wants to be alone to think about himself.
Appietus said: “He is a cool guy. People don’t know him. He is very reserved because he doesn’t want to be disturbed. He always wants to be alone and think of himself. He is a free person. He can crack jokes to break your ribs. Therefore, if you are not close to him, you might not understand him.”
