Hiplife duo, Akatakyie has revealed that they lived in a compound house even at the height of their music career.
Akatakyie gained widespread fame in the Early 2000s with songs like Odo Esisi Me, Sinsima, Aware Pa and Esi.
According to them, their former management team cheated them and kept them in substandard housing, despite the fact that their careers paid well.
Prince Kwabena Asumaning and Ebenezer Kwasi Okyere Asumaning revealed their discontent with their old management team in a recent interview on the ‘Ahosepe Xtra’ show.
“Trust me; we made Odo Asisi Me, Anwene Pa Nkasa while we were still living in somebody’s compound house without a car, management, nothing. In terms of money, we made a big hit, and management was supposed to see to it that we are comfortable,” they stated.
They advised artists and managers to be open with each other to ensure that each party benefits from their contribution.
“When a Management team gets an artist and the artist becomes popular, they should not expect the artist to be at the same place, when you do that you kill the artist. The artist has a spirit within and it’s the same spirit that he is using in his work, expecting that the level he has gotten to should be measured by his songs,” they indicated.
