Ghanaian comedian Nathaniel Mensah, known in showbiz as Ajeezay, has offered help to a physically-challenged street hawker, at Achimota.
Recounting the incident to Ghana Weekend, Ajeezay said he was walking past Achimota Melcom when he saw the woman Gadrey Evelyn with ‘mobile provision shop’ on her lap as she rode in a wheelchair.
Even though Ajeezay thought that she could have just decided to beg on the street, he decided to get closer to her.
“I moved to her, and unfortunately I had only 20Gh on me, so I bought one NutriSnax biscuit gave her the 20Gh and asked her to give me just 10Gh as change! She was very excited,” he said.
She told him she lived at Pokuase so always commutes to the Achimota -Melcom area every day to sell.
Ajeezay then appealed to his Facebook friends to support the woman with any amount they could offer.
Within 24 hours, he was able to raise GHS 2,840 for her.
“I have posted her number on Facebook so that those who still want to help her can send the monies to her directly,” he said.
Ajeezay is a Ghanaian comedian who is widely known for funny play on words and comic songs.
