Blakk Rasta has said that a lot of event organisers do not respect musicians with dreadlocks, popularly known as ‘rasta musicians’.
He said in an interview with Citi TV that some event organisers give, as payment, weed and money for transportation, to these artistes after they have performed at their programmes.
“People have taken rasta for granted for far too long. They will call a certain ball head (and when I say ‘ball head’ I am not talking about the normal ball head. I’m talking about somebody without locks). They pay this person 500k to come and mime, and I come with a full band set, rock the people with full energy. Two hours I am on stage like a mad lion and when I finish you give me weed and transport,” he said.
He added that some of them have been bold to deal with these organisers because they know their worth.
The controversial reggae musician has said that he does not smoke weed, but uses it for other things.
Blakk Rasta also criticised musicians like Sarkodie and Stonebwoy for miming at the recently held ‘Accra in Paris’ concert, which was held in France.
He told Frema Adunyame and Nana Tuffuor in the interview monitored by ghanaweekend.com that no real musician mimes in a performance.
