After winning the Songwriter of the Year award for four times at the Vodafone Ghana Music Awards, Kofi Kinaata lost out to Fameye at the 23rd edition.

At the industry awards held on May 6, 2022 at the Grand Arena in Accra, Fameye won the slot with his song ‘Praise’.

Before the award ceremony, Kofi Kinaata had told Ghana Weekend TV that he deserved to have won the award for his ‘Thy Grace Part 1’ because he believed it was the biggest song that was released in Ghana last year (which is the VGMA year under review for the 23rd edition).

”To me, I wrote the best song this year [which is ‘Thy Grace Part 1’].

However, after losing out to Fameye, he took to Twitter to congratulate him.

Congrats to my brother @Fameye for winning the SONGWRITER OF THE YEAR. ❤️ #VGMA23
