To become a successful parent involves a great deal of dedication and commitment, but making it as a single parent in Africa, is a whole superhuman story, one of which was shared by a Ghanaian entrepreneur during the Citi FM and Citi TV-organised special Mother’s Day dinner dubbed ‘A Portrait of Mama.’
Seated next to each other in matching outfits, the businesswoman narrated how her mother sold her valuables (including engagement jewellery) to provide for her and her other three siblings.

βA Portrait of Mamaβ was aimed at giving individuals an opportunity to surprise their mothers and tell the world what their mothers mean to them in a write-up of less than 100 words on βwhat they consider to be Mamaβs biggest sacrifice, and how it has changed your life.β
In all, three winners were chosen from hundreds of entries to receive a special all-expense-paid weekend stay at the Peninsula Resort in Akosombo.
The event was powered by Citi TV with support from 97.3 Citi FM and sponsored by The Peninsula Resort, and Fortune Rice.
