MultiChoice has returned with the 8th edition of the Africa Magic Viewers’ Choice Awards, a scheme that recognises outstanding achievements in television and film.
The week-long activities for this year started on Saturday, May 7, 2022 with an opening night gala.
This was followed by a runway show on Sunday, May 8, 2022.
On Monday, May 9, 2022, a session was held for young filmmakers in the industry.
Other activities for this year’s awards event are the Content Marketing Workshop, Digital Content Creators Brunch, a celebration of Africa’s diversity, a nominees’ gala, and the main award ceremony on Saturday, May 14, 2022.

Speaking at the Content Marketing Workshop, Dr. Busola Tejumola Busola, the Head of Content & West Africa at MultiChoice, they were committed to growing the Africa Magic brand.
“We are really committed as a team to make sure that we continue to grow the Africa Magic brand, continue to grow the Showmax brand, continue to grow our channels, either Showcase, Urban, Family and all the language channels,” she said.
She also appreciated feedback from the participants and promised a periodic interaction with the stakeholders will be considered.

Nigerian media personality, IK Osakioduwa, returns this year to host the award show with South Africa’s media darling, Bonang Matheba, who will be making her hosting debut at the AMVCAs.
The eighth edition of the Africa Magic Viewers’ Choice Awards is brought by Africa Magic in association with MultiChoice and is proudly sponsored by Amstel Malta.
